The Code Critique is a structured way of understanding how the current requirements are working in real life, where they cause confusion or delays, where they may be getting in the way of development or redevelopment, and where they may be preventing the kinds of outcomes Sedona wants. It is also an opportunity to recognize where and how the code works well and that is equally important. A number of the elements of the code have been there in one form or another since near the time Sedona became an incorporated city. Those requirements have shaped the community and its relationship to the surrounding natural environment.
The result of this process will be a Code Critique document that will be provided to a consultant team before they begin their LDC Update process. It provides an advance understanding of critical items so that the consultant can adapt their process and see what the community, staff and leadership see as strengths and weaknesses of the current code.
